PROBIOTIC STRAINS
The EcoVag® probiotic strains is the outcome of an international, multi year research project involving the screening of a large number of vaginal isolated lactic acid bacteria.
From this research work, Bifodan has selected and deposited a portfolio of unique probiotic strains, of which
Lactobacillus rhamnosus, PB01TM
Lactobacillus gasseri, EB01TM
Lactobacillus gasseri, EB01TM
are patented due to superior properties making them particularly suitable and effective in restoring and maintaining a healthy vaginal flora:
- superior adherence to vaginal epithelial cells (VEC)
- strong formation of lactic acid to lower vaginal pH
- production of specific anti-microbial substances such as hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocines preventing colonisation and growth of pathogens
